In each and every village as well as urban centers in Tamil Nadu, Pasumai Thaayagam has its members (including 20 MLAs - Members of the Tamil Nadu state Legislative Assembly and many local government representatives) and supporters. We are publishing an Environmental Monthly Magazine in Tamil.

India is world's road deaths capital – 118,239 person died in crashes in year 2009. However the Tamil Nadu state has the highest numbers of crashes in India. With only 5.7% of the country’s population, Tamil Nadu has accounted for 14.4% crashes. This state has reported 10.3% of total road crashes death in the country.

That is, Tamil Nadu is No.1 in “crashes” and No. 3 in “crashes death” in India. We wish to change this grim scenario. We wish to launch the Tamil Nadu Campaign on the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020. We are also planning to form a Tamil Nadu Road Safety Alliance for this purpose.
